Coaching
I see every new client as a "winner in a rut." If there is
someone you care about who is not yet enjoying his or her
full potential, call 877-700-BOLD to discuss how coaching
can help. Or ...
Tips for Making The Recommendation
The recommendation will be MOST appreciated if it is presented
as a possibility for a better life.
It will fall short (and may backfire and be insulting) if you are really saying, "You 'need' a coach!" If you believe that is the case for someone, please talk to me first for best results.
Otherwise, here is an effecitive way to make the recommendation.
1. Start with acknowledging strengths in contrast with unfulfilled desires:
For example "Y'know, Bob...even though you are tremendously
creative, it seems you often get less than you deserve." or..."Nancy,
remember when you said, 'One of these days I'm going to...' well, I happen to truly believe you deserve to achieve that goal!"
2. Suggest a coaching CONVERSATION: Do not say, "I think you should consider hiring a coach." Instead, inform the person of this terrific offer you found, specifically the sample coaching session.
For example (and quite simply) ... "I know of a coach (or say career coach or business coach) who offers a FREE SAMPLE COACHING
SESSION to help people reach their goals. "
3. Then ask "HOW would you like that?" and pause to listen respectfully to their response. When you ask HOW instead of a yes or no form of the question, you'll get more information in the response. Many people LOVE the suggestion, especially if they already have
an appreciation for learning, growth and professional development.
Others resist at first, often with the same
excuses that separate them their greatest success. (for example... "I can't afford it.", "I don't have time," "First I have to
_______.", "That's not "my kind of" thing" or "Maybe someday...").
If they do so, don't argue... instead just offer the information again and express your faith in them being worthy of success.
4. Offer them the contact information. Hand them (or e-mail) the phone number 877-700-BOLD
(2653) and my e-mail address - jonathan@jfcoach.com. ENCOURAGE them to just "go for it - it can't hurt to have a conversation!"
As an added courtesy, you may choose clarify something like, "I don't think you NEED a coach. But here's the info, just in case the free sample session would be worthwhile to you."
Then trust them to use it if and when they see fit. Don't
push it. When a change is important enough, curiosity will
lead them to explore your suggestion and they will be truly
thankful to you when they experience benefits for themselves.
Of course, if YOU would be more comfortable speaking with me
first, experiencing a sample session yourself or if you would like me to send you a business card or something,
please contact me.
Thank you for caring.
